This weekend was Spring Weekend at Fordham. The event spans five days and is a celebration of Fordham, springtime and the end of the school year.
On Wednesday there was a Campus Movie Fest Premiere, which was a premiere of student made movies. Thursday we had the cast of MTV's "
The Buried Life" speak about their experiences. MTV cameras came! Friday was the Rose Hill Rush, which was a 5K around campus. I laid on Eddie's and watched my roommate Dani make the laps around.

Later on Friday evening was the Ramblers' Concert, followed by the big event of the evening,

So many students showed up! It was a huge dance party outside.
On Saturday morning there was breakfast set out in all of the residence halls for everyone, with bagels, muffins, granola bars and juice.
At 12:30 the lawn opened for the afternoon event. Entry into the lawn is free and there are activities inside, along with a free buffet of burgers, hot dogs, fruit salad and dessert. A student band played, followed by a set by
Matt Corey, who is a saxophonist, followed by the main band,

After 3eb played, everyone headed back to their dorms to get some sleep before the dance that night.
The Under the Tent Dance is huge on campus. Last Tuesday tickets went on sale in McGinley Center. My roommates and I got there about a half hour early to get in line. 1800 presale tickets were available - they all sold out in 2 hours!!!
The tickets! The theme was Ice Palace, so the tickets were supposed to be ice cubes.

We could look out our window when the dance started and
see everyone headed towards the tent, all carrying their blinking ice cubes.

The dance ended at 1 am and we headed over to Pugsleys after to get some food. The line was out the door, but it's always worth the wait.
On Sunday everyone slept in and ordered bagels. Lindsay, Court and I laid out in the sun in front of our dorm during the afternoon. At 6:30 there was free pizza in our lobby before the comedy show at 7 in the Fordham Prep.
Lindsay and I went to that, which turned out to be hilarious. It was featuring
John Mulaney, who is lives in Brooklyn and is a writer for Saturday Night Live.
Later that night, as I was getting ready for bed, we heard that Obama was going to address the nation. As we all now know, Osama bin Laden has been killed. During Obama's speech, a Facebook message went out to Fordham students from the College Republican group, saying that there would be a celebratory gathering on Eddie's after the speech.

We all threw on some sweatshirts and headed out. It was crazy! There were hundreds of students, waving American flags and singing the national anthem. Students were lighting fireworks (who has fireworks on them?) and Bruce Springsteen was blasting from dorm windows.

We all headed over to Fordham's Liberty Bell, which we rang and rang
before singing the national anthem again, followed by numerous U-S-A chants.

From the Liberty Bell we marched down to Fordham's Peace Garden,
which has a large stone inscribed with the names of Fordham Alum lost during 9/11.
Someone read all of the names and we had a moment of silence.
It was amazing to see hundreds upon hundreds of sleepy students emerge to unite on Eddie's. A lot of people headed down to the World Trade Center as well.
After such a long weekend, I'm looking forward to finishing up my last week of classes this week! Followed by finals next week and Senior Week after that! Almost time to graduate!
